Butterfingers "Bebas"

They just walked along Bukit Bintang road and shot the video like no one cares. Until at one point, they were stopped by a security guard. Being Butterfingers, they politely escaped the clutches of security and continued recording.

Enjit, enjit, siapa sakit, naik atas...

This concludes our first "Weekender Specials" series. You can find out more about Butterfingers from their official website, Facebook page, AMP music page, Myspace, YouTube channel & also from their Royal Butterfingers website. Hope you enjoyed our selection so far, watch out for more specials next week.

Butterfingers "Merdeka" featuring Kassim Masdor

The force is strong with Butterfingers. And who is Kassim Masdor you ask? He is a music composer, actor & musician way back from the P.Ramlee days.

Butterfingers "The Chemistry" live at Rock The World I

Live or not, this song will make your back hair stands up.

Butterfingers "Cuai" live at Rock The World IV

Butterfingers "Vio Pipe"

The song that made Butterfingers butter worth licking. Everytime I listen to this song, everything is alright.

"Maharani" Butterfingers, a relax music video

This is pretty awesome. They shot this video on a just for fun basis. They performed "Maharani" without the usual instruments. Just 2 guitars, Loque's hand clapping action & of course, a peculiar yet harmonized voices of the lot. Very cool.

Butterfingers "Girl Friday"

Suits the first day of the weekend. Which is NOW!

Weekender Specials: Butterfingers

On every weekend, we will try & feature one Malaysian or Asian artist/band/group which is worth listening & watched for. And for this first edition of nuGrooveTV Weekender Specials, we are featuring the one and only, Butterfingers. Want to know more about this post-Nirvana-rock band? Visit their website & follow this blog for special weekend posts about Butterfingers.

And today, we feature a music video directed & produced by the awesome people of Blue Robot Films. The song: "Kembali".

In a glance, you will notice this video is potraying certain real life situations happening in Malaysia. Can you tell us what did you noticed?

"Malayneum" Butterfingers

This music video was produced few (or more) years after the single "Malayneum" and album with the same title was released. The song features several new experimental sounds to complement with the title. It's a song where you listen to while cruising down the streets of KL with your car top down, and a cigarette in your hand.

Sasi The Don live @ Planet Hollywood, KL

The nuGrooveTV crew had the opportunity to record Sasi The Don's showcase in Planet Hollywood, Kuala Lumpur, back in 2007. It was really fun working with Sasi, although he sometimes blurs into his own "zone". Performing with Sasi is Atillia, a hot songstress in her own accord. Got to love the drums! Oh, the song is called "Hey General".

V.E & TV3 Gangstarz promo show

This is a very old video I edited for the fun of it. Being able to work with them was a lot precious to me. The V.E boys performed at the foyer of UiTM in Shah Alam in 2006, if I'm not mistaken. It's a promotional show to launch TV3 new reality show, Gangstarz. What's Gangstarz all about? I'm sure by now you would've know. If not, find out more from TV3 website.

JJ's search for his new Morning Crew partner

Who will be the one?

OST Sepi, "Aku Bukan Untukmu"

"Chumelnya Si Dia" a song by Saerze & a video by MMU students

What can I say, MMU students does have talent. Here's a music video on a song by Saerze. A cool animated music video, I must say.

We have a new address!

I smell nicc-o-tyne

Butterfingers has always been my personal favourite band. This video was recorded at now defunct Piccadilly circa 1995 - 1996. It was one of the best shows of my life. And so is the song!

Newsflash! Rudy is leaving the Morning Crew

Yup, Rudy is leaving JJ alone on the Hitz.fm Morning Crew show. Good luck to Rudy for his future ventures. And JJ, are you hooking up anyone, anytime soon?

"Kelibat Korupsi" music video by MMU students

This what I love about being indy. It's not about the cool "indie" scene, it's about being independent. Independent productions, independent music, etc. Students from MMU produced a music video based on One Buck Short's song, "Kelibat Korupsi" and has made a rather interesting perspective on how to portray the song. The video is kind of funny, because you get to see Mooky in a very different perspective. Hehe. Good work guys!

The Story of Halal & Loving It

If you buy the album, you can see my name mentioned in there :) I think it's still in there, unless they took it out already.

Borneo Music Festival 2007

Sarawak is a beautiful state. And One Buck Short was there performing for Borneo Music Festival in Kuching. Their stage presence: awesome!

Full video of YouTube Live 2008

It's not Malaysian, but still pretty interesting to watch.

Nitrus "Resah"

Another awesome music video for Nitrus, this time again produced by the awesome boys of Blue Robot Films, an independent production studio. They are hidden somewhere in Damansara Perdana I think. Sources mentioned something about the production work done for this video. Apparently, Nitrus lead singer, has to actually walk backwards, in slow motion, for some scenes in the video. They had a minor trouble with the police, but it was all good. Enjoy the "Resah" music video, a song by Nitrus.

Doul "Happy Thoughts" featuring Adibah Noor

Another interesting hip hop artist. Doul. This video also features Adibah Noor, a soulful diva songstress with chords that will make you shaking it!!!

One Buck Short performing Ten O Four live at KL Jam Asia

The most sweetest song from their debut album, "Halal & Loving It". Don't wake me up...

The making of "Jiwa Kelajuan" music video

Behind the scenes during the production of Hujan's new music video for the song, "Jiwa Kelajuan".

Part 1

Part 2

Special Preview of Hujan's 2 new music videos

The talented people of Redeoscape has just recently finished producing 2 music videos for Hujan, a popular indie rock band from Kuala Lumpur. The 2 songs are "Jiwa Kelajuan" & "Bila Aku Sudah Tiada". Judging from the special preview, the guys from Redeoscape did an amazing work on these 2 videos. Awesome editing, nice use of filters, good camera angles & very creative use of unused space to film the videos. If I'm right, the filming location looks like one of those abandoned flats somewhere in middle of KL. I wonder.

The video "Jiwa Kelajuan" reminds me of the same video I've watched from a popular Japanese punk band.

According to sources, when these 2 videos are officially released on television, it will be available online soon after that.

V.E & friends at Genting Highlands

I am very fond of V.E, a once-upon-a-time-ago popular Malaysian Soul and R&B group. I was their webmaster, fan club and community manager, crew, "personal" assistant to their manager, videographer, photographer and many other odd roles I overtook while they were climbing up the scene. It was really fun working with them and at the same thrilling to be connected with a very talented group of people.

The last trip I had with the group was for Berita Harian's Anugerah Bintang Popular award show at Genting Highlands in 2006. I had the opportunity, along with Ezra, to record V.E's activities behind the scene before an awesome performance with Amy Search performing the song "Rozana". What I have here is two short videos (30 - 50 seconds) of what I think would summed up the trip we had to Genting Highlands. Of course, these videos were edited by yours truly & co produced with Ezra.

Below is a recorded video (not by me) of their performance on the awards show on a local TV station. Amy Search rocks!

One Buck Short at Rock The World 7

One Buck Short is truly a Malaysian power pop punk band. With great showmanship on stage & friendly nature off from it, this is one band I've never regretted working with. Having been their manager in 2007, my experience with them was really special. I can tell you straight, managing a band is not that easy, not when you have a demanding job at the same time, but they, the band, also demands your full attention. My only regret was not being able to spend so much time with them, only making myself available when business is the matter.

And now, since Rock The World 8 is just around the corner, here is a live video performance of One Buck Short on the previous Rock The World concert. This live video was exclusively edited, produced & directed by myself & co-produced with Ezra. If anyone would like to have a DVD version of this live video, buzz me. I'll be glad to sort it out for you.

Exiting intermission...

We are welcoming back ourselves from more than 1 year hiatus. While Ezra is travelling in Australia, I've decided to reignite the nuGrooveTV project once again. We have been busy with work & projects of our own and since things are settling down, now feels like the right time to restart the engine.

On this relaunch, the way we publish content will be as normal, absolutely random! In our weblog, we will be writing & cover new and interesting videos about the Malaysian indie scene. On our main website, I will be revealing something that will be pretty interesting. And of course, on our YouTube channel, we will be uploading videos that we have produced and will be producing from time to time. Be warned: some are old stuff, so enjoy the ride! Plus, I'm not that good of an editor :)

It's time to go, catch you again soon!
