Aizat "Hanya Kau Yang Mampu"

The newest video for "Fikirlah" was produced way much better than this. Nevertheless, this song is awesome. So much love today.

New music video from Estranged, "Aurora"

A new music video coming out from the heads of Redeoscape. Song by Estrandged, from their album "Remain Unknown". According to the music video director, Rewan Ishak, "Aurora" might be the last music video coming from him, for the time being. He plans to backpack around the world & try to make something out of his "The Departures". I love that idea! And I hope he & his team will make it an interesting video series, either on tv or the web.

Butterfingers, mati, hidup kembali. New music video!

The last time that we are ever going to get Butterfingers performed together will be sometime, not so distant future, but still unknown. The last gig was at Istana Budaya, performed in front of well over 300 hardcore, diehard fans.

Maybe that's exactly what they wanted us to know from this video. The title itself is intriguing, demanding us to ask ourselves, why somehow we understandd the hidden meaning of "Mati Hidup Kembali". The song itself lend an inspiration to that thought. Maybe they are trying to tell us that even though they've moved on, but wait, they will be back together.

Emmet will be migrating to Canada, Loque returns to Boston. The band will be separated for a while. Time will tell. The new music video for their track "Mati Hidup Kembali", is the best goodbye video from Butterfingers. Directed by Kerol, produced by Atom Mctomsky, presented by Phuture Phlow Films.

23rd Anugerah Juara Lagu video highlights

Stacy, "Aku Stacy". She is cute!

Faizal Tahir, "Sampai Syurga". He should have won. With this performance alone, it has set a certain standard. Nevermind, next year Faizal.

Meet Uncle Hussein, "Laguku Untukmu". Overall winner of Anugerah Juara Lagu.

Meet Uncle Hussein won 23rd Anugerah Juara Lagu!

"Illuminasi Muzik", or "Illumination of Music" was this year's theme for the 23rd Anugerah Juara Lagu, Malaysia's prestigious music award show. Equivalent to America's Grammy Awards, this year's Juara Lagu brings forth rather interesting shake ups in the music industry.

A plus point for TV3 this year is that they decide to show a live stream on their website. Yeay! Here's some hightlights of the night:

  • Being the "only" representative from the growing "indie" scene, Meet Uncle Hussein decides to performed as "Harvey Dent & the Beach Boys". Sporting the regular M.U.H showmanship on stage, this band has definitely paved away the path for "indie" greatness crossing over to mainstream music.
  • Faizal Tahir's performance for "Sampai Syurga" was rather good. After unable to perform for last year's Anugerah Juara Lagu due this Superman incident, I think he has the chance to win. Will he win?
  • The performance with the 3 kids singing on stage was really cute. The little girl has a lot of potential. Huge potential. She can sing like Jaclyn.
  • Stacy is hot!
  • Faizal Tahir won Best Vocal for "Sampai Syurga". Strike one!
  • Faizal Tahir won Best Ballad for "Sampai Syurga". Strike two!
  • Meet Uncle Hussein won Best Pop Rock for "Laguku Untukmu". Indie gold!

Now, the winner for the 23rd Anugerah Juara Lagu is Meet Uncle Hussein! May the gods of music favour their career. But honestly, Faizal Tahir should have won. But hey, it's all about the mainstream support right?

All in all, this is the 2nd year an independent (without major label ties) rock band won Malaysia's Grammy award. Last year would be Estranged with their exceptional hit, "Itu Kamu". This is an achievement for rock music, more importantly, an achievement for all independent musicians. You can do it!

I'm banking on One Buck Short to rise to the occasion for the 24th Anugerah Juara Lagu. Will they make it?

Seven Collar T-Shirt "War Is Over" live @ Actors Studio

Seven Collar T-shirt is by far, one of the game changers in the Malaysian independent music scene. This video was shot in Actors Studio, where the band held their first (and definitely, hopefull not the last) live performance with an orchestra. Well, not a full orchestra of course.

But they definitely changed the way we listen to music.

Butterfingers, Live at Istana Budaya. The last show together.

For now that is. After this, Emmet and his family will be moving to Canada in mid-2009, while Loque will be returning to Boston, only returning back to Malaysia at the end of the year.

This will be the last time, all 4 of them, Emmet, Loque, Kadax and Loko will be jamming together.

Promising their fans a fantastic show, Butterfingers also pulled in Bunkface and the all popular Hujan as headliners for the 2 day event. Yup, Butterfingers will rule Istana Budaya for 2 days!

And the tickets for the show has sold out! There will be no guest list, special passes to be given away anymore. Talk about a sold out rock concert by a Malaysian band, this one definitely is!

There's a proper dress code for Istana Budaya. No torn jeans, collared t-shirts (what?!?!), no slippers, no shorts, no mini short skirts, no skimpy clothing for females, etc. Whoa!

More details at Butterfingers.com.my

Enjoy your show tomorrow. Butterfingers!
